Furloughs Ahead for Customs and Border Protection Department Thanks to Sequester

Furloughs for 60K Customs Workers

Custom and border protection employees sent out a press release Thursday saying that 60,000 workers along the borders will be receiving a furlough notice as a result of the sequester in Washington DC last week. It is unclear how the decision was made and how long the furlough will last. This is yet another side effect of the budget cutback. the United States maintains that our security will not be compromised as a result of this cutback. The reality of the sequester is affecting many government workers and their livelihood. Additional cuts in other departments are expected throughout the next couple of weeks.
